QinetiQ has committed to becoming a Net-Zero company by 2050 and added a Net-Zero Clause to its UK supplier agreements.

In 2023, over three quarters of QinetiQ’s global footprint of total scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions, resulted from the goods and services it procured from its suppliers, making QinetiQ's upstream activities its biggest impact.

From April 2024, QinetiQ is introducing a Net-Zero Clause to its UK supplier agreements in order to reduce its Indirect (Scope 3) supply chain emissions and to encourage its suppliers to also take action to mitigate climate change. This clause aims to inspire suppliers to develop and implement a plan of continuous improvement to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the goods and services they provide.

By articulating and prioritising it through its terms and conditions, QinetiQ are creating clarity on what they need from suppliers to support the company's Net-Zero goals and Plan. This also supports the publication of the UK Government’s Carbon Reduction Contract Schedule PPN 01/24.

QinetiQ states that key to this success is collaboration with its supply chain. Cooperation and disclosure are foundational in its collective endeavour to making QinetiQ's businesses sustainable. This clause encourages suppliers to work with it to quantify emissions and to accurately measure and reduce QinetiQ's downstream impacts.
