The Boeing 787 is very important to ANA’s operations and is an excellent fit across its domestic and international network.
Eric Schulz said: “The disruption caused to ANA and its passengers is of great concern for all of us at Rolls-Royce. We are all working closely together to return the situation to normal as quickly as possible. The situation is being closely monitored at the highest levels within Rolls-Royce.”
This disruption has been caused by the Trent 1000 intermediate pressure turbine blade failing to meet its expected lifespan.
In the short term, the action plan involves the replacement of blades with the existing design and the engines returned to service.
Blades with an improved design will be introduced at the beginning of next year.
