Serco Defence Managing Director Clint Thomas, AM, CSC said it was a privilege to be invited to sign the Pledge this year as a Platinum Partner, which will enable veterans and their family members to be better supported.

“The work that Soldier On does is extremely important in that it provides support to our veterans who have dedicated their lives to keeping us safe,” Mr Thomas said.

“Serco proudly employs more than 545 veterans and 148 reservists across Australia – around six per cent of our work force – so supporting our current and former service men and women and thanking them for their incredibly valuable contribution to our country is something that we feel is extremely important.”

Soldier On Chief Executive Officer Ivan Slavich said as one of the first companies to commit this year to support veterans and their families by signing the Soldier On Pledge at the Platinum Level, the launch event brought awareness to Serco Asia Pacific’s support for the veteran community.

“We value the partnership that we have formed, which helps build pathways to veteran and family employment and look forward to our partnership going from strength to strength, enabling more veterans and their families to secure their future careers,” Mr Slavich said.

The 2020 Pledge publicly celebrated companies that go above and beyond to provide long-term, tangible support for veterans and their families.

The Pledge also provides organisations with the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment in three core areas of recruitment, retention including training and development, and workplace culture and communication.

In a ceremony today Serco once again signed the Pledge at the Soldier On headquarters in Canberra with Serco Defence Managing Director Clint Thomas AM, CSC in attendance.

“As a veteran of the Royal Australian Navy myself, I am incredibly proud of the partnership we have built with Soldier On,” Mr Thomas said.

“We recognise the important skills veterans and reservists have acquired through their service and we are committed to supporting them with greater engagement and employment opportunities.”

Serco has been committed to supporting Soldier On’s vision since 2018, which is to enable veterans and their families to thrive, by learning more about the veteran community, recognising veterans’ high-level skills, fundraising and providing supportive workplaces.

Signing the Soldier On Pledge allows Serco to easily connect with the dynamic and diverse talent pool that is the Australian veteran community, and to play an important part in ensuring veterans and their families have opportunities to thrive.
