Serco secures Asia Pacific defence contracts

Serco has reinforced its position in Asia Pacific with contract wins and extensions in the defence sector in Australia, including a successful rebid of the HMAS Watson Navy Synthetic Warfare Training contract for the Royal Australian Navy.

The total contract value is more than £80 million (over AUD$160m) if all extensions are exercised. The initial five-year term has five, one-year extension options. At Watson in Sydney, Serco has trained Maritime Warfare Officers since 2012, delivering high-quality simulator-based maritime warfare training and related support services.

Separately, Serco has been awarded a contract extension to provide in-service support of Mini Typhoon, Typhoon and Toplite (MTTT) systems to the Royal Australian Navy. The contract is worth around £5 million (c.AUD$10m) over three years, with an option to extend for a further two years.

Anthony Kirby, Serco Group plc Chief Executive Officer said: “Our success in securing these contracts reflects the strength of our expertise and customer relationships as well as our track record delivering mission-critical services for defence clients.

“As governments increase spending on defence and national security, I am proud of the role Serco plays in supporting the defence of nations and citizens.

“These contract awards build on our recent strong momentum in defence, with the sector comprising around two-thirds of our order intake in 2025.”
