Serco was named a 2021 Best for Vets employer by Military Times and was a recipient of the HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award.

The 2021 Best for Vets employer list highlights organisations who demonstrate exceptional efforts to recruit, retain, and support former and currently transitioning service members, their spouses, and military caregivers. Since 2009, Military Times has built this list to feature companies that are attractive places to work for future job seekers within the military community. This is the first time Serco has been included on this prestigious list and was ranked #60.

For the second year in a row, Serco has been named by the US Department of Labor, as a recipient of the HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only Federal award programme that recognises job creators who successfully recruit, hire and retain veterans. Recipients of the 2021 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages, availability of veteran-specific resources, leadership programming for veterans, dedicated human resource efforts and tuition assistance programs for veterans.

“Veterans, reservists, and military spouses make up over 22% of our Serco workforce across North America and every individual brings important skills, experience and values that are vital to the work we perform in all areas of the business,” said Tom Watson, Serco Inc.’s Senior Vice President of Serco’s Defense Services Group and Executive Sponsor of SercoVets, the Company’s veteran focused Employee Resource Group. “We are extremely proud of this highly talented workforce and want to continue our positive efforts to hire and support veterans. It is not only good for our business but it is simply the right thing to do.”

Earlier this year, Serco was named a VETS Indexes 5 Star Employer in honor of the Company’s commitment to recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and supporting veteran employees, military spouses and others in the military-connected community. Also, at the beginning of the month, the National Veteran Small Business Coalition presented Serco with the Champion of Veteran Enterprise Award for the Company’s exceptional support of Veteran and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The Serco workforce also committed themselves over the past year to volunteering and fundraising for a variety of military non-profit organisations including Toys for Tots, Armed Services YMCA and the Fisher House Foundation.
