TAG Global Training installs fire and smoke training rig at TAG Farnborough Airport
The fuselage-shaped unit was designed by Minerva Simulation Facilities to TAG Global Training’s specifications with a representative business jet interior and will be used to simulate potential fire-related emergencies on-board business aviation aircraft.
TAG Global Training will use the rig as a fire safety training tool for TAG Aviation Europe’s pilots and cabin crew. It is also the first fire and smoke training rig of its kind in the UK to be made available to other operators, individual aircraft owners and aviation training institutions.
“At TAG Aviation we are committed to industry-leading safety standards,” said Debbie Elliott, manager, TAG Global Training. “An in-flight fire is one of the most dangerous situations that crew and customers can face and with this new rig we are able to offer training that could potentially save lives. All flight crews managed by TAG Aviation Europe will have the opportunity to undergo training on the rig and we welcome others in the business aviation industry to take advantage of this state-of-the-art facility.”
The unit will be used as an integral part of TAG Global Training’s dedicated ‘Fire and Smoke’ course, which complements its portfolio of European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Department for Transport (DfT) accredited training programmes for flight crews, which range from aviation first aid and crew resource management (CRM) training to survival training and guidelines for seasonal weather operations.
