TATV - Special Insight with UK DSE

Alan Peaford, Editor-in-Chief of Times Aerospace, recently caught up with Mark Goldsack, Director, UK Defence and Security Exports (DSE), to discuss how his team are preparing for IDEX 2021, taking place 21st-25th February in Abu Dhabi.

Goldsack explained to TATV’s Alan Peaford why this opportunity to meet governments and industry in the Middle East was so timely.

As the UAE and Saudi Arabia embark on a new generation of localisation strategies to increase their share in domestic defence and aerospace manufacturing, Goldsack outlines how these tie in with the UK’s aim of greater partnership, collaboration and cooperation.

Goldsack said: “But it's not just about government. It's about how we link up industry to industry, it's how we link up our industrial dialogues. And it's how we join together to look for those opportunities where there's a win-win. And I think that really is the characterisation of how things need to go as we go forward.

“I think both sides will benefit hugely in the long term, as we work out where each other's strengths lie, and where the correct point is to create joint IP, that genuinely gives you that confidence in the supply chain.”
