His vast experience in defence and public service positions him as an invaluable asset to UDSS as the company continues to guide clients through complex defence and security landscapes. A Career Defined by Leadership and Service

Tobias Ellwood brings with him a wealth of knowledge accrued over decades of dedicated service to both the military and the government. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bournemouth East from 2005 to 2024, a tenure marked by his strong advocacy for national defence and security. His deep commitment to the field was evident during his time as Chair of the Defence Select Committee from 2020 to 2023, where he led critical discussions and initiatives to bolster the United Kingdom’s defence capabilities.

In addition to his role as an MP, Ellwood held the position of Minister for Defence Veterans, Reserves and Personnel at the Ministry of Defence from 2017 to 2019. In this capacity, he worked to enhance the support framework for veterans and promote effective management of military personnel and reserves. This hands-on experience in policy-making and defence strategy gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of government, military operations and veterans’ affairs.

Before embarking on his political career, Ellwood served in the British Army with the Royal Green Jackets, rising to the rank of captain. His commitment to military service extended beyond active duty, as he transitioned to the Army Reserve and reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 77 Brigade. This prestigious background not only highlights his leadership and operational expertise but also underscores his understanding of the evolving nature of modern warfare and hybrid threats.

As a strategic advisor at UDSS, Tobias Ellwood will leverage his extensive experience to provide strategic insights, foster high-level partnerships and support clients in navigating emerging security challenges. His appointment signals UDSS’s continued dedication to integrating expert perspectives to deliver exceptional advisory services.
