Oxley receives Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award
Oxley Group has received the Gold Award in the Ministry of Defence‘s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), the highest level of recognition available to employers supporting the Armed Forces community.
The award acknowledges Oxley’s long standing commitment to championing veterans, reservists and cadets, while working collaboratively with partners across the region to promote the values of the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Gold Award recognises organisations that demonstrate exceptional support for the Armed Forces community and embed that commitment throughout their business practices. Having signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2020, Oxley has steadily strengthened its support for service personnel and their families, achieving Bronze recognition in 2023 and Silver recognition in 2024 before now being awarded Gold status.
Support in the workplace
As a long established defence manufacturer, Oxley recognises the significant contribution that members of the Armed Forces community make to industry, society and the wider economy. Over recent years, the Group has introduced supportive workplace policies for reservists and cadet force adult volunteers, enhanced recruitment pathways for veterans and cadets and promoted skills development and career opportunities. The company has also played an active role in advocacy, mentoring, networking and collaborative initiatives across the defence and Armed Forces communities.

A strong advocate for partnership working, Oxley has worked closely with fellow Armed Forces Covenant signatories across the region to share best practice and strengthen support for the Armed Forces community. The company has also mentored three other organisations on their Employer Recognition Scheme journeys, helping them develop their own commitments and achieve recognition.
Veteran networks
Oxley has further demonstrated its commitment through support for Armed Forces charities and events, including fundraising activities, sponsorship, Armed Forces Day celebrations and engagement with veteran networks.
Darren Cavan, Oxley Group CEO said: “Achieving the ERS Gold Award is a tremendous honour and reflects the dedication of our people and the values we hold as a business. We recognise the exceptional skills, experience and commitment that members of the Armed Forces community bring to the workplace and we are proud to support them through employment, development opportunities and community engagement.
“We have also been pleased to work alongside other local Covenant signatories and support organisations beginning their own ERS journeys. This award reinforces our ongoing commitment to those who serve and have served.”
