They included launch of its advanced BlueDot remote sensing and tracking technology for hydrogen and the unveiling of its E-bag fire suppression system for lithium-ion batteries with business partner Flair – a UK first for this type of technology – as well as the latest generation of its innovative inflight refuelling technology.

Barnbrook, a founding member of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), is also to step up its ‘Engineering the Future’ talent and skills development programme for interns, apprentices and trainees.

More than £81.5 billion worth of deals were announced during the week of FIA2024. The airshow, which Barnbrook attended for the 14th consecutive time, got off to a flying start when managing director Andrew Barnett met Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on the opening day.

Andrew, who is also a board member of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), said: “It was our best airshow to date.

“There were a record number of visitors to our stand and a greater number and quality of business leads generated than ever before.

“We are now holding further talks with potential customers for our pioneering solutions, especially our inflight refuelling technology for helicopters, our BlueDot hydrogen monitoring system and E-bag.

“These have the potential to result in very significant business for the company and propel us to the next level of growth as part of our ambitious expansion plans.”

The airshow represented a relaunch of independent, family-owned Barnbrook based around its intelligent internet of things (IIOT) engineering solutions as well as its re-engineering of sunset and legacy systems for aerospace and defence.

Barnbrook’s team at the airshow featured interns and trainees to give them real-world experience of the aerospace industry and Barnbrook’s role in it.

Andrew said: “It is so important that the next generation of aerospace engineers come into industry with the right skills.

“As a business we are more committed than ever to working with partners in business and education to ensure that British aerospace engineering continues to be among the best in the world.

“I was proud of our trainees and our entire team during Farnborough, including those who kept our manufacturing centre operating without disruption while their colleagues were at the airshow.

“We are committed to applying the ethos of innovation, dynamism and commitment demonstrated at the airshow all the year around for the benefit of our customers as well as our business.

“This is new start for Barnbrook and we are all excited about what the future holds.”

Many of Barnbrook’s pioneering solutions are built around its BlueCube remote monitoring, tracking and sensing technology.

With nearly 50 staff, with CAA, FAA and AS9100 accreditations, Barnbrook is a prime contractor and subcontractor with multinational firms, the UK MoD and overseas governments.
