Sam (above) will build and develop Marshall Land Systems’ relationships with key customers in its home market, including the UK’s Front Line Commands and the wider Ministry of Defence.

As the business expands and standardises its range of products and services, Sam will explore new opportunities around next-generation offerings in Operational Infrastructure, Mission Systems, and post-sale Managed Support Services in the UK, while also serving as the point of liaison for delivery of ongoing projects.

Sam is bringing a valuable combination of armed forces and business development experience to the role. After graduating from university in 2013, Sam joined the British Army, enrolling into the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst's Regular Commissioning Course and joining the Royal Anglian Regiment. He spent the majority of the following five years in various platoon and support weapon command roles.

In 2018 Sam left full-time Army service, though he remains a reserve infantry officer within the Army Recruiting and Training Division. He has held a number of business development positions since this transition, selling primarily into the defence and security markets.

His most recent role was with engineering consultancy Plextek, where he directly supported the science and technology communities in areas such as electronic warfare, comms, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS).

“Sam is joining Marshall during an exciting period of growth and opportunity,” said Marshall Land Systems Director of Business Development (EMEA) Lee Doherty. “His mix of experience makes him the right person to grow our partnerships with key UK customers.”

Sam will be joining the Marshall Land Systems team at Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2023, the world’s largest fully integrated defence and security event, which will run from September 12th through 15th in London.
